Catalysts for positive electrode of hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell
Kováč, Martin ; Bača, Petr (referee) ; Novák, Vítězslav (advisor)
Master's thesis deals with new methods of preparing catalytic materials for positive electrode of an oxygen-hydrogen fuel cell and the influence of potassium permanganate or doping agent molar mass change on theirs attributes. Further it studies the use of proper measuring methods designed to qualify theirs attributes and the presentation of achieved results. In particular methods of linear sweep and cyclic voltammetry and the processing of data using Koutecky-Levich and Tafel plot and wave log analysis. Values of half-wave and onset potential and kinetic coefficient have been measured and calculated.
Electrochemical study of the DNA desorption from the surface of carbon electrodes
Průcha, Jakub ; Dejmková, Hana (advisor) ; Schwarzová, Karolina (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the possibility of DNA desorption from the surface of carbon electrodes. Measurements were performed using linear scan voltammetry in a three- electrode configuration, with single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) of 31 nucleotides as the sample. The working electrodes were a boron-doped diamond electrode and an electrode made of highly oriented pyrolytic graphite. The efficiency of desorption was assessed by comparing the heights of oxidation signals of adsorbed nucleic bases, which were measured before and after the application of the desorption procedure. The first approach involved desorption through mixing or rinsing in solutions with different properties, specifically in organic solvents: methanol, acetone, toluene, and DMSO; in acids and bases: HCl, HNO3, NaOH; and subsequently in surfactants and detergents: Triton X-100, TWEEN 80, CTAB, and Tergazyme. Among the tested substances, a 0.1 mol·l-1 solution of NaOH and a 1 % solution of Tergazyme proved to be effective. Subsequently, the time and temperature dependence of the rinsing strength of these two solutions on ssDNA desorption were examined. From the conducted experiments, it was determined that time and temperature of the solution do not increase the efficiency of the desorption by NaOH solution. For rinsing with a...
Study of Synthetic Oligonacleotides Containing Guanine by Voltammetry on a Graphite Electrode
Hejduková, M. ; Špaček, Jan ; Fojta, Miroslav ; Havran, L. ; Renciuk, D.
Electrochemical oxidation of specifically designed DNA hexamers containing guanine has been studied in aqueous acetate buffet (pH 5) at a pyrolytic graphite electrode (PGE) by linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) Influence of the oligonucleotide composition and concentration was investigated It seems that short oligonucleotides containing guanine produce oxidation signals. which are sensitive to their structural properties Simple electrochemical techniques us may be useful tool for monitoring of structural changes of DNA.
Electrochemical Study of the Supported Iron Oxide Catalysts
Gál, M. ; Horváth, B. ; Navrátil, Tomáš
Propylene oxide (PO) belongs to the group of the most important chemical industrial\nintermediates. It is mainly used for polyurethanes, pharmaceuticals, textile, and detergent\nproduction. In this short contribution we tried to characterize supported iron(III) oxide\ncatalyst with different amount of Fe and to find an optimal iron(III) oxide content for the best\ncatalysts performance. The importance of phase quality on the selectivity of respective\ncatalysts samples is also discussed. Linear sweep voltammetry was chosen for this purpose.\nResults obtained by electrochemical methods are compared with efficiency (selectivity) of\nrespective catalysts.
